WHY POWER STRIPS?
A power strip can be the answer to
powering off appliances that may safely be turned off. This is much
safer than pulling the plug, since it minimizes the opportunity for
electrical shock. It also makes it easier for you to reduce standby
power "vampires" when not in use. Using one that is also a
"surge-protector" will offer safety to your appliances in the event
of a sudden electrical power surge, by breaking the electrical
circuit. Caution: Not all power strips are surge protectors.
Some power strips also offer surge
protection for phone lines, and TV cable, nice options.
TYPES OF POWER STRIPS
Some power strips have turn-off
switches, and you will seriously want to purchase this type. If it
is also a surge-protector, this switch will be disengaged in a
strong electrical surge. Some power strips are simply what they are
called, a strip that supplies power, but has no switch, and no surge
protection.
Power strips range in price from $2.99
to well over $40.00 depending on the features. Some of the surge
protectors even offer insurance on your appliance in the event that
are harmed in spite of the protector. We would be careful about
reading the fine print on such insurance.

well be taken. This is the time to strike a deal for a bargain
ad. We have posted the site early for this purpose. |
